Who do you trust when everyone is suspect?
A Killer in the City brings TV news camerawoman Karli Manford into too close contact with Atlanta’s hottest homicide detective, Brent Logan, when a string of murders turns personal.
Somehow, Karli finds herself inside the story instead of documenting someone else’s troubles. An ever-escalating pattern of danger to Karli forces Brent Logan to protect the one woman he has always avoided.
Serve and Protect are more than just words to him.
Now, he must defend the one woman he wants most to avoid, the woman who got his brother shot years ago.
Can be read as a stand alone novel, but better read in order. Part of the Men of the Badge series, a subset - Men of the Badge Blue Lights Books introduce new characters. Stories have recurring characters but each story is separate and complete.
A Killer in the City Blue Lights Men of the Badge Blue Lights Book 2 edition by Riley McKissack Romance eBooks
A Killer in the City is the second book in the Blue Lights series. It features Detective Brent Logan and Camerawoman Karli Manford. These are two characters that you root for. Both have had disappointments in their lives (his professional, hers personal). While his anger is directed at her for what he thinks is her part in the shooting of his brother, and she feels some doubts and guilt, they both have an undeniable attraction to each other. Their almost antagonist feelings of each other to their growing trust and love of one another is set at the right pace and is believable. McKissack has written a suspenseful novel around the killings taking place in Atlanta with multiple suspects that I was questioning just about all the characters involved, even the good guys. Just when you think you have the case closed – suspect nailed – she gives you a twist with double intertwining triangles. Riley’s background journalist experience gives her writing from the reporter/cameraperson perspective differently than other “cop” stories I have read. Well done!Product details

A Killer in the City Blue Lights Men of the Badge Blue Lights Book 2 edition by Riley McKissack Romance eBooks Reviews
This second book in the series was as good as the first, Maybe better. The author has created a rich, emotional background for the main characters. Brent is sexy and strong, but sensitive. Karli is an admirable heroine and one thing I love is that, she is tough, but not ridiculously so. She has the good sense to be scared when she should be. The mystery is compelling with twists along the way. Enjoyable read!
Another winner! I was hooked on Riley McKissack when I read her first book, and her new Blue Lights series keeps getting better and better! This installment focuses on tough cop Brent Logan and determined news camerawoman Karli Manford. Their paths cross often due to their jobs, but Brent holds her responsible for his brother's gunshot wound years ago. When the two are first on the scene of a gruesome serial killer's latest crime, they are forced to work together and can no longer deny their growing attraction. When it becomes clear the killer is out for Karli, Brent will face his toughest challenge yet.
I loved these two characters! They were both strong and independent but dealing with pain and guilt from their pasts. Watching them move from essentially enemies to friends and then to more was so enjoyable, and I am glad that they did not jump right into a relationship from page 1. The plot was engaging with enough twists and turns that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I was totally surprised by the killer!!
Overall, another fantastic novel by Ms. McKissack! I can't wait to see where book 3 takes us!
When Karlie Manford, a T.V. camerawoman, gets a call from a source at the police department telling her a body has been found, Karli heads over to the scene to be first to get the story on film. However, when she gets there, there are no other cars there except for the detective's car with flashers on. With her camera running, Karli follows the path down into the woods and finds the detective she tries to avoid, Detective Brent Logan, leaning over the body of the dead woman. Brent Logan blames Karlie for what happened to his brother and the last place either of them wants to be is anywhere near each other. As the body count rises, and Karli's involvement becomes personal, Brent protects Karli which puts a strain on the mutual attraction they are trying to fight.
A Killer in the City is an engaging, well written addition to Riley McKissack's new Blue light series. It has some twists and turns to keep you engrossed. Just when I thought I knew who the killer was, I found out I was wrong and very surprised when I did find out who it was. I recommend this book and series to those who like romantic/suspense books.
