Carrie returns home from the big city to her hometown of Melnik after her grandmother passes away, leaving her old house to her, with tons of junk to clean up in every nook and cranny. However, Carrie quickly decides that her grandmother might have been murdered, especially after finding another body. Meanwhile, she has a cute man fixing up her house and helping her with her mouse infestation. While she takes on the task of editor of the local newspaper, she doesn't realize that all the major news is going to be around the events in her life. This was a light, quick read. I liked the main characters, although there were a few interesting people that I did get tired of hearing from due to their overly quirky natures and obsessions. Like the other reviewer, I found the mouse phobia a bit overdone at times and wish it had been more thoughtfully used throughout the book. Despite these, the story and romance were enough to keep me interested. Carrie and Nick were constantly interrupted and had the romance put on hold multiple times, which maintained interest in their romance, finding myself rooting them on. Also, Nick's shy characteristics were nicely done, playing off of Carrie very nicely. the book keeps you guessing who did it with the different individuals who played their part in the murder. All in all, a decent read when you're looking for something simple. There are Christian elements to the book, and along with that, there are no sexy intimacy scenes more than a few kisses here and there.

Bury the Lead Historical Society Murders edition by Mary Nealy Romance eBooks Reviews
Good read but a little too dramatic paranoia with rats. Who goes around jumping into a stranger's arms when they see a mouse. And screams practically in every page.
You will want to read all three. They keep you laughing, so glad I found this trilogy. Wish there were more
What a delightful and funny story. Great dialogue, engaging characters. A real Who Dunnit with a Godly flair! Read this and share!!
How would you feel if your one biggest fear was of MICE, and your town's mascot and claim to fame was . . . a MOUSE? Carrie returns to her hometown reluctantly to take over the Melnik Bugle, the local paper. All she wants is to get away, but the contractor working on her house loves it there . .. and she's beginning to think she might like him, too . . .
More murder, mayhem, and mouse tracks (well, if a taxidermied mouse can MAKE tracks) in this edition of the Historical Society Murders!
Very cute romantic mystery, I'd give it 4.5 stars. Carrie did have an extreme mouse phobia but I think it fit in with the feel of the book. I like how it included Nick's point of view as well as Carrie's so you could see how insecure he is and how he tried so hard to ask her out to dinner. I'd recommend this book to others, especially if you don't like gritty-graphic-scary mystery thrillers, which this is not.
This series of 3 books is a great read! I would read more of them if the author provided them. Good mystery, humorous. Recommended!
I laughed the entire way through this mystery. It was absolutely delightful! Carrie is a fun character who has just a few small flaws, one of which is a mouse phobia. Unfortunately, for Carrie, she lives in the field mouse capital of Nebraska and hew new home seems to cater to theh mouse clientele.
Bury the Lead is a fun read & I can’t wait to read the others in this series!
