It's surprising how many people who've read the Bible and canonical gospels have no experience with any of the so-called apocryphal ones. While many of the apocryphal (possibly not a fair term to use, since it's a label the Catholic Church applied in ancient times to materials it considered not suitable for the Bible, which is certainly a subjective classification) gospels appear to be forgeries, in that they were not written by the persons whose name is attached (which may indeed by the case with the canonical gospels as well), some of them have been fairly authoritatively dated to a time period corresponding to that of the popular gospels in the New Testament, and must therefore, I think be given serious consideration as valid religious documents in a biblical context. They will certainly prove interesting to read, even for those with no particular religious leanings.Product details
